Economic Modeler / Health Economist, IHE

Location: On-site, hybrid, or remote in Canada

Time Commitment: Full Time

Salary: $60,000 to $75,000 subject to skills/experience

About the role
Economic Modelers / Health Economists conduct modelling and/or economic evaluations across a wide range of topics and technologies. Common methods/forms of analysis include cost-effectiveness and decision analytic modelling, as well as data analysis and econometrics. The work may include one or more of the following areas:

  • Economic evaluations of health technology and interventions
  • Infectious disease and vaccine modelling and economics
  • Pre-market, early economic evaluations of non-drug technologies
  • Health technology assessment
  • Quantitative analysis of health system performance
  • Complex health system decision problems, straddling sectors
  • Economic evaluation of clinical research studies including randomized controlled trials
  • Health-focused real world evidence research

This is an opportunity to be part of a unique research program producing rigorous evidence to support decision making. The candidate will be supported by a strong team including Principal and Senior Principal Health Economists and Modelers, Project Coordinators, Evidence Synthesis Specialists, and Research Librarians.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conduct studies and evaluations
  • Analysis of data using statistical, mathematical, economics, econometric, or other modeling methods
  • Support literature review and evidence synthesis activities as required
  • Prepare reports, presentations and other project deliverables
  • Collaborate with other researchers at the IHE
  • Communicate with stakeholders and clients as required
  • Contribute to the Health Economics team processes and methods through meetings, presentations and documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Graduate degree in health economics, mathematics, or a related quantitative field
  • More than 1 year post-degree experience working in an analytical role in health economics, statistics, health systems research and modeling, decision-analytic modeling, simulation, or optimization
  • Experience with R or packages such as STATA, SAS, or MATLAB (or similar)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong inter-personal skills
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of Canadian health care systems and data is an asset
